MONSTER trucks!

A monster truck visited Lara Primary School

And. It. Was. HUGE!!

We gathered out in the car park and learnt all about these immense creatures!

Did you know that the first ever monster truck was called Bigfoot and to build a modern monster truck it costs $250,000? WOW!

Well done to Declan Robinson who won the monster truck colouring competition!  His prize was a monster truck DVD and a ticket to the Geelong Showgrounds to watch these beasts in action :)

After viewing the visiting truck named 'The Convict', some year 5/6 students then spent more time researching and creating monster truck presentations! Later in the week we shared these with our buddies - our PowerPoint presentation skills are impressive!   Ben and Jack have shared their presentations below to give a glimpse on all that we learnt!

A visit from Geelong Football Players

Those in our building who are fans of the Geelong Football Club were super excited to see two of their rising stars visit our learning group building during the week!  Midfielder Allen Christensen and defender Cameron Guthrie took time out of their busy schedule to make an appearance and talk all things leadership with our year 5/6's.  We heard about an elite footballers' tough training regime, their diet and the dedication needed to stay commited to achieving your goals.  There was plenty of time for question and answers and of course to score a couple of autographs!

Tablets galore!

Wandering through our learning group building, it's all abuzz with learning!  Our most recent excitement has revolved around our Year Fives, again joining our Year Sixes in the 1:1 tablet program.  Students have had exploration sessions on their tablets and the motivation to use them throughout the day is super high!  Teachers are encouraging the students to use their tablet as a tool for learning and agreements have been made around being responsible whilst accessing the internet.  Thanks to all of our techsperts (aka ‘technology experts’) who have helped our Year Fives with any questions they have needed answered!

Congratulations Class Captains!

Well done to our very deserving class captains who were voted in by their peers today!  Smiles all round as each nominee prepared and delivered fantastic reasons as to why they would be a perfect fit for the job.  Our Learning Group area is very lucky to have such wonderful role models!
